Prostate Health Resource Center
The Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation operates a Prostate Health Resource Center in Little Rock. The Center is a first stop for newly diagnosed men and their families looking for information and support. Materials such as brochures, books and videos are available, as well as contact information for other resources.
Mobile Prostate Screening Program
APCF also operates a statewide Mobile Prostate Cancer Screening Program. Foundation staff members (in conjunction with volunteer health professionals) travel statewide providing education and screenings at no cost to eligible men.
This service is provided free to men who do not have a diagnosis of prostate cancer and are age 40 or over who have not been screened in the past 12 months. African-American men and men with a family history of the disease are eligible at age 35.
North Point Automotive Group has donated a Recreational Vehicle (RV), which travels the state and offers education and free screening tests to men of the appropriate age.
The 31-foot vehicle has a private exam room for men to have a digital rectal exam (DRE) and all the necessities to draw blood and preserve it until taken to the lab for analysis. Through a Corporate Partnership with Baptist Health, the Foundation receives the medical supplies and lab expertise necessary to screen men in Arkansas.
Campaign Against Prostate Cancer
Held each year in Arkansas counties with the highest need for education and screening, the APCF Campaign Against Prostate Cancer educates men and provides them with access to screening. Prostate cancer education is promoted heavily throughout the selected counties in this four-month program. The education is followed by a Mobile Prostate Cancer Screening event in each county location.
In addition, the APCF sponsors public education programs and screening events statewide at venues such as health fairs, industrial worksites and churches.
Patient Navigation Program
The Patient Navigation program ensures that all patients with suspicious findings receive information and assistance to help them obtain follow-up care, timely diagnosis, and treatment. Goals of the program are to save lives from prostate cancer, eliminate barriers to care, and ensure timely delivery of services.
