Prostate Cancer Support Groups - Peer Network

Support Group

The most important thing to remember when you are diagnosed with prostate cancer is that you are not alone. Many men and their families have dealt with the same issues that you and your family now face, and their knowledge, insight and encouragement may be very helpful.

The support groups sponsored by the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation, known as the Peer Network, meet once a month in Little Rock, Fayetteville, and Jonesboro and once a week in Ft. Smith. The mission of the Peer Network is to empower and reassure survivors*. In order to view the most recent listing of meeting dates and times, please visit the calendar at the top of the page. The Peer Network support group meetings provide a private and confidential setting for survivors* to talk openly about prostate cancer-related issues. In our support group meetings, survivors* join forces to handle all aspects of prostate cancer from diagnosis through treatment and recovery. Participants communicate concerns, ask questions, and share knowledge. By participation in Peer Network, you will gain insight and build friendships to help you through the prostate cancer journey.

*A "Survivor" is anyone battling prostate cancer, the man who is diagnosed and his partner, friend, or caregiver. Survivorship begins at diagnosis and continues through treatment and beyond.

Survivor-Mentors

As a part of our Peer Network, we offer one-on-one access to a network of individual Survivor-Mentors. Survivor-Mentors are men and women who have navigated through a prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment and who are trained to encourage others and help them find resources. If you would like to speak with a Survivor-Mentor, please call 1-800-338-1383.
